Basic Info

Upon arrival in the port city of Pucallpa, Peru, we'll board El Evangelista, a large steel-hulled boat owned by a local church, and will head into the Amazon jungle. Traveling along the Ucayali River system, we’ll wake up each day in a new village where we’ll set up a health clinic, providing much needed healthcare for the indigenous Peruvians living in these remote communities. The accommodations may be far from luxurious, but the people you’ll meet will warm your heart like nothing else. Though not for everyone, this trip is an experience you’ll never forget!

Rooms on the El Evangelista are bunk-house style with air conditioning and there’s always the option to sleep in a hammock on the roof for those wanting to brave the mosquitos and potential rain showers. All meals will be prepared by our kitchen staff in the galley and will be served in the air-conditioned dining hall. The bathrooms aren’t fancy, but they have flushing toilets and (cold!) showers. El Evangelista has four levels, so the ability to climb narrow stairs is a must.

On both ends of our trip, we’ll go through Lima, flying over the Andes Mountains on a short flight to and from the jungle city of Pucallpa, located on the banks of the Ucayali River (the main headwater of the Amazon River).

The days can feel pretty intense… but it’s worth it when we experience the massive smiles and gestures of gratitude as a result of simply spending time with, and caring for, all the folks we’ll meet along the way.

As soon as everyone on the team has submitted the necessary forms, we'll be able to start the search for the best possible flights to Peru. Again, the sooner we have everyone's documents, the sooner we can start the search, and the better chance of a good deal on airfares!

The majority of folks who serve with us on a team utilize our fundraising tools to help raise funds for their trip. Not only does this help with the financial cost of going on a trip, but it’s also a great way to build your own team of supporters who will be praying for you and those you serve. In addition, it allows those who are unable to go themselves to be part of the mission and the work God will be doing in and through you.

Trip Cost

We will do all we can to keep your cost as low as possible. To assist in this, we ask that you submit all the required documentation by October 25, 2024. Having all this in place will allow us to purchase plane tickets well in advance and take advantage of lower ticket prices.

Trip Cost: $1,600 + Airfare (approximately $2,650 total).

Includes: International airfare, all ground transportation, health and travel insurance, lodging and meals in Peru, and hotel and transportation in Lima.
Excludes: Food and drinks in the airports and in Lima, and personal shopping.
