Medical Boat Trip
Calling all medical personnel with a true sense of adventure! Join us for an unforgettable trip, tending to the myriad of healthcare needs of those living in the remote villages of the Peruvian Amazon jungle.
Upon arriving in the port city of Pucallpa, Peru, we'll board a boat and head into the jungle. Traveling along the Ucayali River system, we’ll wake up each day in a new village where we’ll set up a health clinic, providing much needed healthcare for the indigenous Peruvians living in these remote communities. The accommodations may be far from luxurious, but the people you’ll meet will warm your heart like nothing else. Though not for everyone, this trip is an experience you’ll never forget!
We’ll be staying on board El Evangelista – a large steel-hulled boat owned by a local church. Rooms are bunk-house style with air conditioning and there’s always the option to sleep in a hammock on the roof for those wanting to brave the mosquitoes and potential rain showers. All meals will be prepared by our staff in the galley and will be served in the air-conditioned dining hall. The bathrooms aren’t fancy, but they have flushing toilets and (cold!) showers. El Evangelista has four levels, so the ability to climb narrow stairs is a must.
COST: $1,600 + Airfare (approximately $2,750 total).
INCLUDES: Airfare, all ground transportation, lodging and meals on El Evangelista, lodging in Lima on the way home, and travel health insurance.
