Abaco, Bahamas :: March 22-30, 2025

The needs in Abaco and the outlying Cays (pronounced “keys”) are immense. But the good news is that we have an opportunity to step into the void. Through serving the least of these, we believe we can make a huge impact on the lives of those who call these islands home.

This medical campaign is a close partnership between The Liquid Legacy, The World Cataract Foundation, and The Central and South Abaco Medical Health Team of the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Basic Info

We’re there to be agents of change in Abaco; to share resources and to love our global neighbors as ourselves.

We’ll be setting up medical clinics in Central Abaco, serving those who have limited access to medical care. The plan is to offer general health screenings, which include basic medical care, dental care, and eye exams. The World Cataract Foundation will also screen patients with eye concerns, such as cataracts, pterygia, or oculoplastics. Based on our findings during these health screenings, we will work with the local healthcare team to identify the major needs that we or others on the island might be able to meet. In cases where the local medical community may struggle to provide follow up, we will return to Abaco later in the year with specialized teams to meet those needs. For example, World Cataract Foundation will organize a second visit to provide free eye surgery to those who medically qualified during the pre-screening.

The days can feel pretty intense… but it’s worth it when we experience the massive smiles and gestures of gratitude as a result of simply spending time with, and caring for, all the folks we’ll meet along the way.

Documents

We will do all we can to keep your cost as low as possible. To assist in this, we ask that you submit all the required documentation by December 22, 2024. Having all this in place will allow us to purchase plane tickets well in advance and take advantage of lower ticket prices.

You will need the following to complete this form:

  1. Health insurance details

  2. A copy of your passport

  3. A copy of any medical licenses you hold

  4. A copy of your medical degree

  5. Updated resume (CV)

    Additional documents will be required by the Bahamian Ministry of Health and Wellness later in the application process. We’ll walk you through those at the relevant time.

As soon as everyone on the team has submitted the necessary forms, we'll be able to start the search for the best possible flights to Abaco. Again, the sooner we have everyone's documents, the sooner we can start the search, and the better chance of a good deal on airfares!

Fundraising

The majority of folks who serve with us on a team utilize our fundraising tools to help raise funds for their trip. Not only does this help with the financial cost of going on a trip, but it’s also a great way to build your own team of supporters who will be praying for you and those you serve. In addition, it allows those who are unable to go themselves to be part of the mission and the work God will be doing in and through you.
